A WEST Cumbrian teenager has been locked up for 12 weeks for a spate of offending - and not paying a fine of more than £800.
At Workington's Magistrates' Court, Aaron Lee Hall, 19, of Kilbride Place, Frizington, admitted the following offences:
* Assaulting a police officer on Tuesday, April 13, in Frizington.
* Resisting the same police officer on the same occasion.
* Breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order by being in Cleator Moor on Tuesday, April 27.
* And failing to pay a court debt of £1,280 (a fine and compensation), imposed on November 18, 2019.
The lengthiest individual sentence - of eight weeks custody - was imposed for assaulting the police officer.
Explaining their overall sentence, magistrates said that the offences were so serious because they were aggravated by the defendant's criminal record and they were committed while he was subject to post-sentence supervision.
Magistrates said Hall must pay a compensation element of the existing court debt, amounting to £410, when he is released. The defendant was represented by defence lawyer Sean Harkin.
