Cumbria Police are asking motorists to avoid the A596 while a forensic reconstruction takes place.

The closure will come into place from 9.30pm tonight (May 9, 2021) and is expected to reopen at about midnight.

A spokesman for the police said: "Motorists are being advised of road closure which will commence on the A596 at Micklethwaite.

"The road will be closed this evening at 9.30pm in both directions between Micklethwaite and the A596 junction of the B5302.

"The closure, which is expected to be in place until midnight, is to allow forensic reconstruction enquiries to take place as part of an ongoing investigation into a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in March."

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use the A595 while the closure is in place.
