THE LATEST food hygiene ratings saw five stars for Copeland businesses, almost across the board.
Copeland Borough Council and the Food Standards Agency regularly assess the hygiene standards of any business that serves food and drink to customers, to ensure that the public are safe to dine there or buy their products.
In this week’s inspections, eight of the nine businesses visited received the highest rating of five stars. Westminster Café Bar based in Whitehaven on Lowther Street received full marks with five stars. The Clock Tower in Millom’s market square received five stars. The Gables Care Home on Cleator Moor Road in Whitehaven were found to be keeping their residents as safe as possible. J Green and Sons on Wellington Street, Millom received five stars.
The Greggs store on King Street in Whitehaven received five stars. Ravenglass Handmade Ice Cream on Main Street also achieved the highest grade possible, as did Brockwood Hall in Whicham and Pennington Hotel on Main Street in Ravenglass.
Amazing Grazing at Forge Farm in Eskdale received three stars. The agency said: “The scheme helps you choose where to eat out or shop for food giving you clear information about the business’ hygiene standards.”
