After a spate of men flashing their genitals, Cumbria police have issued a warning.

In the last month there has been an increase in reports of indecent exposure incidents and although officers are not highly concerned they have admitted it is very unusual for them to has so many reports.

Just last week police have appealed for information following a man exposing himself to a child in Keenan Park in Carlisle.

This followed a report of a man walking the streets with nothing but a beanie hat on and looking into peoples windows.

The lead for Rape and Serious Sexual Offences, Temporary Chief inspector, Vicki Coombes said: "We have had reports of five incidents in the last month.

"We believe two of these could be connected and we are following all leads.

"We want members of the community to report any incidents to us right away and give us the best chance at finding the culprit however we would advise people not to engage with the or approach them. we would also advice that people keep their windows and doors locked."

Police are appealing for information about all of the incident of exposure:

n April 21 at Town Dyke Car Park, Carlisle.

n May 6 at Mulcaster Crescent, Stanwix.

n May 7 at Alfred Street South City Centre

n May 12 at Finkle Street City Centre

n May 15 at Keenan Park, Harraby.

If you witnessed any of the about incident police are urging you to contact them.

DCI Coombes said: "We don't want our communities subjected to this. We want to people to contact us. Our patrols are all aware and ready to respond.

"We don't believe it is just one person and we don't want people to worry if you have been a victim of this type of crime I would urge you to get some support. Victim Support are great and have lot of useful information on their website."
