ROADS in Allerdale were safe from speeding yesterday as Cumbria Police mobilised Road Safety Camera Vans.
Mobile speeding surveillance units were deployed to the A596 between Workington and Aspatria as well as the A594 between Maryport and Dovenby. The road safety camera vans were also deployed to multiple locations north of Carlisle. The police force's message was "please drive carefully." Officers from Cumbria's roads policing unit are also urging people to understand the law before buying or riding an E-Scooter.
"E-Scooters are illegal to use on roads, footpaths, cycle tracks/lanes, bridleways, or byways.
"The only legal place these privately purchased scooters can be ridden are on private land with the owner's consent.
E-scooters have become popular this year, after the Government permitted the start of trials for rental schemes in July however police are reminding people that it is illegal to ride an e-scooter in a public place.
