A WIGTON man has been given a ban and unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to drink driving.
Andrew Peter Harrison, 38, committed the offence at Port Carlisle on May 22 as he drove a Mitsubushin on an unclassified road between Port Carlisle and Drumburgh, Carlisle's Rickergate court heard.
At the time, his breath alcohol reading was 89mcg.
The limit for driving is 35cmg.
The defendant, of West Street, Wigton, admitted the offence.
After hearing the details, magistrates imposed a community order and ordered that Harrison completes 60 hours of unpaid work within the next year.
They banned the defendant for 22 months - but offered him the drink driver rehabilitation course, which if completed in time will reduce his ban by 22 weeks.
He must also pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
