A VILLAGE is coming together to provide activities for all and make use of an under-utilised community space.
Beckermet Village Association is running a programme of events throughout August at the village's Reading Rooms.
The chairman of the group, John Mackay, explained the thought process behind the plan.
He said: "We have the reading rooms dating back to 1920 but not used in recent months and underused in the time before the pandemic.
"We've looked at revamping things. We've been planning this for months, there's lots of activities planned.
"We're trying to cover the whole age range, and make it a place that gets used more. It's like libraries, if you don't use it you lose them."
Planned events included yoga classes, social events for the elderly with tea, coffee, and cake, a family quiz night, and bingo nights. It's all part of a bid to get people out of their homes once more. It all kicks off from 6pm on July 30 with a Kickstart presentation at the reading rooms.
A full list of the planned events can be found on the back page of the July edition of the Beckermet Newsletter.
