A road in Workington is set to reopen after more than four months.

In a notice issued by Cumbria County Council in March, vehicles were prohibited from travelling down the Central Way underpass Workington from its junction with Brow Top Car Park, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. distance of 110m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained for the remainder of the ruling and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via Brow Top Car Park, U2545 William Street, A597, The Viaduct, Station Road, Oxford Street and the unrestricted section of Central Way.

The ruling was originally anticipated to last ten weeks. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Exemptions do apply for some vehicles, more information is available.
