A CARLISLE man is facing a crown court hearing over a knife-point shop robbery allegation.

Andrew George Morris, 36, has appeared before the city's Rickergate Magistrates' Court on two charges. The allegations are as follows:

* That on October 4 the defendant robbed a woman shoper of £200 in cash.

* And that on the same day, he had with him, without lawful authority, at the Foreways store in Blackwell Road, Currock, a kitchen knife.

Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on November 3. Until that date, the defendant, who was represented by defence lawyer Anthony Wilson, will be remanded in custody.

Court records show that there was no plea entered and no indication of plea given.
