A recently formed fell walking club has reached new heights with its first outing.

Workington Academy's newly formed Fell Walking Club took on their first fell last weekend, submitting Causey Pike near Braithwaite on Saturday October 9.

The trip, which was attended by eight Year 7s and one Year 11 accompanied by Mr Hartley, Mr Wilson, Miss S Dandy and Mr Thomas, offers an important opportunity for children at the academy to get out into the fresh air.

The positivity on the trip was "fantastic" and "all the students looked out for each other", said the academy on social media.

The academy's post continued: "We are so proud of the students for this incredible achievement, summiting a proper Lake District Fell."
