A THIRTEEN-year-old Carlisle boy has been sentenced by magistrates after he admitted two common assaults and an offence of witness intimidation.

At the city's Rickergate Youth Court, the teenager pleaded guilty to all three offences, which were committed on dates in May.

The court heard that the boy, who can no be named for legal reasons, threatened to "batter" his victim in an attempt to derail the police investigation of his violence. Magistrates imposed a one-year-referral order on the defendant.

The teenager was also told that he must pay his victim £100 in compensation.
