Experienced goalkeeper Mark Howard made his Carlisle United debut against Tranmere after joining on a short-term deal.
The former Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers No1 went straight into the side at Brunton Park.
Howard saved a penalty on his debut but ended on the losing side as the Blues went down to a 1-0 defeat.
The 35-year-old has spoken about his move to Brunton Park and how he hopes his experience can benefit the struggling team.
