A famous actor will be performing in a North Cumbrian theatre.

Peter MacQueen, who played a lead role in the film Supernova, starring Colin Firth, and is a local star, is performing his hit one man show at North Cumbria’s most intimate theatre - the John Peel in Wigton.

The theatre is a 90 seat miniature theatre, with all the comforts and functions you expect in a much larger establishment, is at the heart of the bustling market town of Wigton, itself at the heart of the Solway Plain.

The film, Supernova, was written and directed by Peter's nephew, Harry MacQueen, and shooting locations are nearly all Cumbrian, as well as having a lot of extras in the film played by members of Wigton Theatre Club - the company which owns and runs the John Peel Theatre.

In the one man show which Peter will be performing, called 'Scrooge Diaries', Peter shares his unique take on the classic Dickens story.

A description for the show reads: "In this revelatory exclusive, Ebeneezer Scrooge opens his diary to expose the awful truth about Tiny Tim, the Fezziwigs, Jacob Marley. and that disgustingly jolly, gluttonous, consumer-driven Ghost of Christmas Present… as he reveals the truth behind a Christmas Carol and the vengeful, slanderous, upstart author of that novel.

“You know nothing Mr.Dickens! YOU are a fraud sir – an embezzler of the truth! A fake news-smith! A charlatan… Charlatan Dickens! Bah!”

This is one of only two performances in Cumbria this year.
