The National Trust in the North and West Lake District has helped with making a popular outdoor area safer for the public.

The team helped with moving a large piece of stone that had become perched above a path in Borrowdale.

This could of course cause danger for people passing through the area so it was necessary to move it.

A spokesperson from The National Trust said: "Rangers Roy and Carly moved a huge rock that was perched above the path near Stonethwaite, Borrowdale recently.

"Roy estimated it was about 3 tons; they have made it safe and reinstalled the fencing.

"Just one of the many tasks our rangers undertake caring for the valleys of the North and Western Lake District."

The rock was hovering right above where people would be hiking through the valley but has now been moved to a more appropriate location.

Other measures have also been taken to make the area safer.

The team take care of a number of landscapes in the Western Lake District including Derwent Water, Borrowdale and Buttermere.
