AN APPLICATION for permission to remove problem trees has been submitted to the council.
Nu Tech Associates on Crown Street, Cockermouth has submitted a proposal to remove a cluster of Sycamore trees which are growing into and damaging a boundary wall.
Application has to be requested from Allerdale Borough Council for the removal as the trees are within a conservation area.
Self seeded trees had already caused damage to a separate part of the boundary wall, planning permission was submitted to have them felled, it was granted and they were subsequently removed.
But the business is applying for permission to remove a cluster of trees which has "destroyed the boundary wall completely" growing through the wall past the lower outbuilding.
Applicant Mike Taylor said: "If the Sycamore clump was removed the tree line would be maintained by the evergreen trees behind the Sycamore which are of the same height and density in the church grounds."
