THE Workington branch of Bensons for Beds is celebrating a double anniversary as two colleagues will this year have notched up 40 years’ service between them.

Store manager Andi Dixon passed his 20 years of service in October and assistant manager Angela Chandler will hit the milestone later this year.

Both have spent their entire Bensons career at the Workington store, which relocated to Risman Place, Washington Square, three months ago, after 22 years at the Derwent Howe Industrial Estate.

Andi said: “Over two decades, we’ve built up a great relationship with customers, not just in the town but across the western lakes, down to Whitehaven and out to Keswick.

"Cumbrian people are really lovely and everyone in Workington is very friendly. It’s a great place to live and work.

"Angela and I both love our jobs and really enjoy meeting the customers. We must like working with each other too, otherwise we wouldn’t still be here!”

After all the tribulations of lockdowns and temporary closures during the pandemic, Andi and the team are enjoying being back to normal opening times and serving customers from the new Risman Place store.

Andi said: “Every day is different. Since we’ve moved we’ve seen a lot of interest in our eco-friendly Natural Solutions by Slumberland range which uses natural products and is fully recyclable.

“Customers are becoming more aware of sustainability issues and it’s important we play our part.”

The store has also announced the appointments of Michael Talbot and Courtney Blay as Sleep Wellness Advisers.
