A MUSICIAN from Cumbria is looking forward to a 'raucous' set when his band headline a festival later this month.

Nick Wragg, a bass player from Keswick, will perform with Ferocious Dog, a rock band that is headlining this year's Keswick Mountain Festival.

Ferocious Dog’s latest album, The Hope, includes the title track released as a single to coincide with World Mental Health day, alongside the previous singles ‘Broken Soldier’ and ‘Pentrich Rising’.

The Hope debuted at Number One on the Official UK & Ireland Folk Album Charts and entered the National Album charts at Number 31.

Meanwhile, the vinyl version of The Hope entered the Top 20 Vinyl Album Chart.

Nick joined the band on this album’s tour a few months ago and it will be the first time they perform at this festival.

Ferocious Dog is a six-piece rock band that combines Celtic folk sounds and punk rock.

They started work on their latest album in January 2020, and it was released in November 2021, and have been touring it ever since.

The band has a track record of lively, energetic performances with mosh pits, however this latest album’s lead single is a slower, more emotional release than what their fans, collectively called Hell Hounds, may be used to.

Nick said this doesn’t mean their upcoming Keswick performance will be any different.

He said: “There are a lot of ups and downs in the album, I would say it’s more emotionally charged, but the shows these last couple of months are still raucous.

“There are some classics still in the setlist.”

Nick said he is excited to perform in his home town.

He added: “It’s unbelievable.

“It kind of came out of nowhere, I’ve not played many gigs in Cumbria at all because the music scene compared to the rest of the country is so small, so it’s going to be a real treat.

“A lot of my friends and family are going to see me perform for the first time.”

A few of their members left at the start of the year, but an opening came up and Nick was selected by one of the members who he had played with in the past.

Nick will join Ferocious Dog as a creative member as well, as they have just started working on the next album.

Ferocious Dog will play Keswick Mountain Festival on Friday, May 20.
