MARYPORT Amateur Dramatic Operatic Society are urging fans of movies and musicals to secure their seats for an upcoming performance of a Mel Brooks classic.

The group are set to perform Young Frankenstein at the Carnegie Theatre from Wednesday, June 8 to Saturday, June 11, and have launched an appeal on social media for people to continue their strong ticket sales.

The musical follows the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Dr Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced ‘Fronk-en-steen’) who inherits a castle in Transylvania.

With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick Igor (pronounced ‘Eye-Gore’) and a leggy lab assistant Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. “It’s Alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfathers. Of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

Every bit as relevant to audience members who remember the original as it will be to newcomers, Young Frankenstein has all the panache of the screen sensation, with a little extra theatrical flair!

Packed with memorable tunes and of course a show-stopping rendition of Puttin’ On The Ritz, Young Frankenstein is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment!!

Tickets for the show are available on www.youngfrankensteinmusical.co.uk.
