SUMMER is almost here!

The News and Star, Times and Star and Whitehaven News came together to ask their readers what summer events they are looking forward to attending this year.

In no particular order, the ten events readers are most looking forward to are:

Cockermouth & District Agricultural Show – Set to take place on Saturday, July 30, the action-packed day has entertained visitors since 1849 with events ranging from sheep shearing demonstrations to wrestling.

Ladies Night at Carlisle Racecourse – Sponsored by VL Aesthetics, guests at the Monday, August 1 event are set to enjoy a brilliant evening of racing before dancing the night away with a guest DJ set to be announced.

Soul on the Green – Taking place this year on Saturday, July 30, the free open-air event in Silloth will host the regions finest DJs playing Northern Soul, Motown and Club Classics using the finest sound equipment to an enthusiastic following.

La'al Music Festival - Held at Maryport’s rugby league club from Saturday, June 11 to Monday, June 13, a mixture of tribute acts as well as local up and comings acts will take to the stage.

Keswick Beer Festival – Hundreds of beers and a selection of ciders will be available in the marquee, with the 24th event taking place this weekend!

Solfest – From legendary acts like Echo and the Bunnymen, to indie favourites Razorlight and hometown heroes Hardwicke Circus, the August music festival is set to be a scorcher!

Taste Cumbria Maryport - The county’s favourite food festival returns to Maryport in August for a two-day extravaganza of local flavours and family fun.

The Ibiza Orchestra Experience – Carlisle’s Bitts Park will host a number of concerts this summer, but most are looking forward to Friday, July 22 when a 26-piece orchestra, live vocalists and DJ rework some of dance music’s biggest tracks.

Wannasee Festival – Set to take place at the last weekend of August in Penrith, tribute acts to some of music’s most well-respected acts will perform the classics.

Wild on the Wall Family Music Festival – After huge success in 2019 and 2021, the Brampton festival is back in August with live local music, entertainment for all the family, local business stalls, food, drink and more.
