WHETHER it be for teambuilding, stag and hen parties or birthday parties, fortune definitely favours the brave at the Lake District’s ultimate paintballing experience.

Raw War Paintballing in Aspatria offers an immersive war-zone terrain through its eight action-packed combat scenarios, including everything from sniper towers to trenches to keep you out of the firing line.

The family-ran business, founded in 2003 by Chris Wilson, was built to help give his son Jonathon a grounding in being involved within a business.

“I thought that it would help give him a good grounding and learn better people skills more than anything else.

“Paintballing is one of those things that will make you come out of your shell in all aspects,” he said.

Chris said a primary focus of the business is to encourage ‘confidence-building’, whilst bringing smiles and laughs to faces - of which it passes with flying colours.

“What we’re trying to do is get the competitive spirit out of people and to try and foster an unselfishness that comes from people will put themselves on the line for the greater good of the team.

“It’s not just about getting nothing but bruises, it’s about hoping leave thinking they have had an absolute exhilarating experience and crazy fun, whilst ensuring they’ve had the safest time possible,” he said.

Chris said the business was hard-hit during covid-19, especially with stag and hen parties being postponed, thankfully however, the business is back to firing on all cylinders.

“Coming out of covid is giving us a chance to reassess the business and get our marketing up-to-date - we never probably never knew how much social media does influence people as opposed to word of mouth.

Chris said running a paintball arena is a bit like ‘being a good chef in a restaurant’.

“Not many people can replicate your style, there’s a real personality brought with it, that only we offer - all with a personal touch.

“All we want is people to have good memories with us and know that we’re thinking ahead of them as to how they’re enjoying it and ensuring we’re keeping everyone safe,” he said.
