WORKINGTON Town will go into this weekend’s match against Widnes Vikings bolstered by two new signings from across the Channel.
The club have signed a deal with French club Catalan Dragons that will see the two players on a month’s loan from the Super League side.
Romain Franco is a Spanish international winger/fullback who has made four Super League appearances, and Florian Vailhen is an extremely well-regarded 18 stone middle.
A spokesman for Workington Town RLFC said: “We would like to thank Catalan head coach Steve McNamara and general manager Alex Chan for their help in making the signings so straight forward and the Blue Knights Support group for their continued assistance that has allowed us to make these signings happen.”
It is believed that both players landed in the country earlier this week and will be available for the club’s home game this Sunday’s home fixture against Wdnes Vikings this Sunday (Derwent Park, 2pm).
The change comes as Will Tate and Tom Wilkinson have returned to Hull KR. The club has also bid farewell to Gary Hewer, who announced he’d be leaving the club from his role as development coach.
