A Cockermouth school boy is the first recipient of a new award created in memory of a man who did so much for the community.
Jake Bell, of All Saints' Primary School, won the Peter Colley Memorial Prize, this week - following a photographic competition.
The prize was created by Cockermouth Rotary Club, the town's Civic Trust and The Kirkgate Centre.
Ros Earthy, of the Rotary club, said: "Peter Colley was a fervent supporter of Cockermouth's history and historic assets and was instrumental in saving the Kirkgate building for its present use.
"It was therefore very pleasing that Peter's son, Dan, was able to be present at the award ceremony in the Kirkgate Centre."
The photographic competition was organised by the Rotary Club and open to all Year Six school pupils in Cockermouth and the surrounding area. They were asked to submit photos based on two local themes: beautiful landscapes and history.
Members chose their favourites before photographer and Civic Trust member Brian Coley then chose the winning image.
Jake's photo of Cockermouth Castle has been framed and will hang in the Kirkgate Centre.
Mr Colley died two years ago, on his 87th birthday.
He was the former chief planning officer for Allerdale. He later went on to lead the rescue of a former Victorian school, which was transformed into The Kirkgate Centre.
