THE latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Thor: Love and Thunder, earned a spot in the top five for highest Marvel opening and hammered a £302 million global debut.

Joining the top ranks of Marvel films in only its opening weekend, the film saw Natalie Portman join the cast, and has gathered rave reviews from critics and filmgoers alike.

1) Thor: Love and Thunder

Some lucky readers have already had a chance to see the film and have rated it amongst their favourites. In the film, Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight the God Butcher, Gorr who intends to kill all Gods.

2) Captain America: The Winter Soldier

As Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) struggles to embrace his role as Captain America, he decides to team up with a fellow Avenger, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

3) Iron Man

This 2008 classic sees Tony Stark, who is a billionaire engineer, create a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil after being held captive in an Afghan cave.

The Avengers and their allies team up and risk all in order to defeat the powerful Thanos before his chaos and and ruin puts an end to the universe.

5) Avengers: Endgame

The films picks up from the Avengers: Infinity War, which saw the universe in turmoil. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers need to assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos's actions and restore balance to the universe.

6) Spider-Man: No Way Home

The latest Spider-Man films picks up as Spider-Man's identity is now revealed. When a spell by Doctor Strange goes wrong, dangerous characters from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter Parker to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man. Some other spiders even join to help him!

7) Thor: Ragnarok

Another Thor film has made it into the top ten. This film follows the imprisoned Thor on the planet Sakaar, as he races against time to return to Asgard and stop Ragnarök, the destruction of his world, at the hands of the villain Hela.

8) Black Panther

T'Challa, heir to the kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and must confront a challenger from his country's past. This is one of Chadwick Boseman's, who plays T'Challa, greatest works.

9) Guardians of the Galaxy

This is a two volume series. However, volume one received more love from readers. The film follows a group of intergalactic criminals who must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior who plans to purge the universe.

10) Avengers Assemble

The last film on the list is Avengers Assemble, which sees Earth's mightiest heroes come together as a team and learn to fight if they have any chance of stopping Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.
