MAGISTRATES have approved two unconnected applications by Cumbria Police to seize cash under Proceeds of Crime legislation.
The first case involved £1,570 which was taken from William Michael Moore, of Milburn Street, Workington. After an application made by Cumbria Police at Carlisle’s Rickergate court, magistrates ruled that the money should be forfeited.
The second application involved a sum of £2,265, which was seized from Dashamir Bica, of McLean Place, Paisley, Scotland. After hearing the background, magistrates also approved the forfeiture of that sum.
Neither of the two people from whom the cash was seized were in court to oppose the Cumbria Police applications.
