Joanne Rayson loves her job which is hardly surprising since since her job is making other people happy!

Joanne is community champion of the Morrison's.

"I began work with Morrison's five years ago and became community champion just over three years ago I love this job."

Her job description is to link the store with its community to give something back to the people in the locality of the store.

As school summer holidays start, she has been involved in supporting a holiday group and, in Raffles, a breakfast club.

As well as giving locally, the supermarket chain has a national chairty. This year it will collect for organisations providing care for children with life-limiting conditions.

Joanne said: "We are delighted because it means we are raising funds for local caregivers such as Jigsaw, the Cumbrian children's hospice."

Like so many, Joanne was particularly busy during lockdown, organising doorstep deliveries, ensuring that the vulnerable and those isolating were able to get their needs.

She also organised gifts and treats for NHS staff. In addition, every patient at the Garlands hospital received gift bags containing items such s colouring pencils and books.

At the end of each day, she also packs up unsold fruit and vegetables for the local foodbank and other organisations handing out food. Along with that, they receive regular donations of pasta and ice.

Joanne is first to admit that she has not done this along and is very grateful to Morrison's customers.

"We have a list of Foodbank's urgent needs each week We need to give special mention to these working families who fill those needs every day with their donations."

Much as she loves her job, Joanne is also devoted to her family - who are taking precedence this week as daughter Hannah is getting married in a few days.Joanne and husband Mark also have a son, Daniel.
