A GREAT Clifton man has completed one of Europe's most difficult bike rides- cycling more that 900 miles in just over 100 hours.

Ryan Lawman, 47, who currently works in Germany as a lorry driver, changed his whole lifestyle to compete in the London, Edinburgh, London bike ride , cycling 960 miles in 106 hours.

Ryan said:"I got into biking and once read about this London, Edinburough, London , which is supposed to be one of the hardest audax rides in Europe and it was a dream of mine to go and do it, so I changed my whole lifestyle, stopped drinking, made my own diet plan and everything just to get ready for it.

"It's just been a dream of mine to do this and finish it, I feel absolutely brilliant, I'm just really proud."

The grueling ride was entered by 1,900 people who initially registered, with Ryan being on of only 900 to complete the event at the final cut off.

He said: "We were given 128 hours to reach the 18 control points and I finished after 106 hours, we had three days of 35 degree heat which did slow me down a bit."

"It had it's ups and downs but there was no way I wasn't going to finish it- but it was hard.

"All your body was aching and it was absolutely boiling aswell."
