AN ALSTON man died from "very rare and aggressive complications" brought on by his Covid vaccination, an inquest has concluded.

The former rocker, known as Zion, died aged 48 in May last year, 14 days after receiving his first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The inquest, held at Newcastle Coroners' Court on Wednesday (August 17), heard Zion was generally fit and well with no significant previous medical history.

He received his jab on May 5, and on May 13 began to experience severe headaches, before his condition deteriorated.

On May 17, he suffered speech impairment and seizures leading to hospital admission and a diagnosis of Vaccine-Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia - a "very rare and aggressive condition" associated with the AstraZeneca Vaccine, the inquest heard.

Despite emergency surgery, Zion died at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle on May 19.

In the HM Coroners concluding remarks, senior coroner Karen Dilks said: "There is no evidence that earlier admission would have altered the sad outcome."
