A RUGBY club will re-open its on-pitch marquee and fire up its big screens in time for England to touch down in Qatar.

During the European Championships in the summer of 2021, Barrow Raiders opened their pitch to punters wishing to enjoy the matches.

With bars, a massive TV, and outside benches, the atmosphere was electric during England's run all the way to the final, where they eventually lost to Italy.

And as the World Cup approaches, the rugby club will run a similar setup for England's games in Qatar.

The event will be indoors, rather than the sunny weather enjoyed last summer, held in Raiders' huge marquee that has hosted previous events at the club.

They are hoping to host hundreds of fans per game - with the England vs USA match already sold out.

The event is ticketed to gauge attendance and tickets for the events are already on sale. The club says that they are selling strongly - with a match already sold out - but each ticket will come with a free drink.

On the Barrow Raiders website, you can purchase tickets for England vs Iran on November 21, or Wales vs England, on November 29.

Club chairman Steve Neale said: "Our big screen, along with many wide-screen TVs, will move indoors and we are hoping to pack out the marquee with more than 400 fans. Already we have sold out the England v USA game and have strong sales for England v Iran and England v Wales despite them being midweek.

"We are hoping that England get through the group stages and the Raiders marquee is the place to watch England’s fortunes

"Tickets for tables are on sale on our website and entitle you to a free first drink so they don’t really cost anything, it is just a way for us to judge numbers."

Last year councillors were forced to take action following complaints of anti-social behaviour by revellers and 'ludicrous' noise levels.

Bosses from Barrow Raiders faced the prospect of losing their licence to sell alcohol and host entertainment events after complaints from nearby residents.

But members of Barrow Council's licensing sub-committee stopped short of revoking the licence and chose instead to alter its conditions.
