CUMBRIA Police are investigating an incident in which a group of men were reported to be fighting with each other inside a social club on New Year's Day.
The report of group fighting occurred at the Ellenborough Social Club in Maryport, with the police first being notified shortly after 7:40pm.
The incident resulted in damage to property and a 'number of people suffering minor facial injuries'.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Constabulary said: "Officers attended and were able to quickly calm the situation.
"We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing for those who may have been at the club at the time, or in the area, to contact us. The incident resulted in damage to property and a number of people suffering minor facial injuries.
"We are reviewing CCTV to identify those involved.
"A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. He was subsequently charged and will appear at Workington Magistrates’ Court later this month.
