Carlisle International Women's Group has called upon local women to participate in its upcoming cultural event in the city.

Adrienne Gill from Carlisle One World Centre, which hosts the group, said: "We will be hosting an International Dance Day afternoon next Saturday, April 27, in Botcherby Community Centre and we want to invite you to join us!

"All women are welcome and no previous dance experience is necessary."

The afternoon will be packed with dancing a variety of styles from different corners of the globe, featuring American Jazz, African, Indian Classical, and Iranian dance classes - led by a diverse selection of experienced tutors from various cultures.

Tina Borgia, member of the International Women's Group overseeing the programme, said : "We will be raising funds for Carlisle International Women’s Group to enable women from all backgrounds and heritages who live in Carlisle and surrounding areas to engage in more regular fun activities and events, as requested at previous events.

"We have evidence that this improves wellbeing, a sense of belonging and social cohesion and also reduces feelings of isolation."

The event is scheduled from 2pm to 5pm and there are several packages available for participants.

Spaces are limited so ladies are urged to register their participation in due time. You can find out more here.

Payment for participation can be made upon arrival on April 27, or via the group's GoFundMe page.

The event is open to all women and non-male-identifying individuals.
