POLICE have warned parents to highlight the dangers of fires after an incident in a Carlisle woods earlier this week.

Carlisle police issued a statement on social media after finding a fire which had been recently set in Keenan Park, Carlisle on Friday, April 26.

In a statement on social media, Carlisle police said: "In the words of Billy Joel " We didn't start the fire" but somebody certainly has

"While on foot patrol in Keenan Park PCSO 5430 and PC 3386 came across this very recent fire that had been set.

"Please can you highlight the dangers of fire and setting fires to your children and teenagers, especially if they come home smelling of smoke.

"It's not nice for the local community to know there are fires being set close to their homes. It also takes the Fire Service away from more serious situations, potentially putting lives at risk."
