Derby County's west Cumbrian goalkeeper Scott Carson has revealed a "scumbag" stole his wallet from his car.

Former England international Carson, who grew up in Cleator Moor, took to Twitter to complain about the theft, which happened overnight on Sunday.

The Whitehaven-born shot stopper admitted he "stupidly" left his car unlocked but heard the culprit close the door and was able to cancel his bank cards.

He tweeted: "Stupidly left my car open last night with my wallet in it, some scumbag at 10pm, while I was in bed was going through my car and took my wallet but thankful they closed the car door that hard I was able to realise and cancel my cards."

Carson, who has played for a number of clubs including Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion, started his career at Cleator Moor Celtic.

He spent time at Workington Reds before moving to Leeds United.
