A coronavirus vaccine being trialled by Oxford scientists has reportedly seen promising results, it has been revealed this morning.
The Daily Telegraph first reported this morning that a jab, which is in phase one of human trials, could provide a two-front defence against Covid-19.
Healthy adult volunteers demonstrated an immune response from the vaccine with blood samples indicating that it stimulates the body to produce antibodies and "killer T-cells."
David Carpenter, chairman of the Berkshire Research Ethics Committee who approved and supports the trial has said that scientists are "absolutely on track" to control the virus.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said that scientists are working towards making a vaccine available this year, "best case scenario" but admitting that 2021 was more likely.
