Workington Reds management duo and board of directors are united in their delight at the rewards for winning tomorrow night’s FA Cup replay.

Although it’s an away tie at National League Hartlepool United, the prospect of a trip to the north east is a prize worth fighting for at Kidsgrove Athletic.

Reds didn’t cover themselves in glory on Saturday, being held 0-0 at Borough Park by the Evo Stik Division One West side.

But Hewson believes his side will respond positively to the second chance and with the opportunity to take-on one of the bigger clubs in the National League.

“We certainly won’t be getting ahead of ourselves because we have to win at Kidsgrove but I think it’s a great draw and makes Wednesday even more important now,” he said.

Club chairman John Mackay reiterated that Reds won’t be thinking about Hartlepool until hopefully after Wednesday.

“If it comes off they will be looking for revenge as we beat them last season at Borough Park in the FA Trophy.

“It’s not a bad draw money wise as they get reasonably good gates. I think they average around 3,500 in the League so it should be a good pay day with regards to gate money. All we need to do now is win on Saturday,” he said.

A Scott Allison goal gave Reds a 1-0 win over Hartlepool last season during their good run in the FA Trophy.

At the time, though, Hartlepool were struggling just above the relegation zone in the National League, but this time round they have started well.

They lie sixth in the table, six points behind the leaders Salford and have only lost twice in their first 15 games.

But there are not many goals around when they play, having scored just 18 in those opening matches which is the lowest in the top nine.

By the same token they have conceded only 14 which is bettered by five teams in the top eight.
