Mixed martial arts star Dan Grierson is set to enter the boxing arena for the first time in three years this weekend.

Grierson is taking part in the 22nd Clash of the Titans event tomorrow at the Rivendell Marquee at Stainburn.

Fighting out of the newly opened Just Grind MMA & Fitness centre, Grierson is looking to build on a great recent performance at Almighty FC in York where he defeated a highly rated prospect from SBG South Shields by a first round arm bar.

COTT returns a year after its last event and this time is going all out with a fight card that is full of highly experienced fighters going head to head with quality opposition from Newcastle.

In addition to Grierson, another MMA veteran will be competing after a couple of years of inactivity.

Carl Ward, of Broughton, forged a fearsome reputation on the MMA scene with his all action, aggressive, in your face style.

On the boxing circuit he holds a victory over former BKB world champion Billy Hawthorn and Ward will be looking to have his arm raised when he faces his thus far unbeaten opponent who holds a 6-0 record.

Whitehaven cruiserweight John Ennis will also return to action having last fought in a razor thin loss to the vastly experienced Andy Davies.

In addition outstanding Just Grind prospects Shane Roe and Alex Nicholson will make their debuts.

The event will also see a VIP after party in conjunction with local nightclub Electric Soup which means that ticketing for the event is limited due to licensing laws.

Tickets are still available from Pete Gilmour on 07478 654646 or Dave Straughton on 07788 269415.
