Bransty Rangers are top of the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League Division One after victory at the weekend.

Rangers moved to the top of goal difference after their 4-2 win at home to Whitehaven AFC Reserves on Saturday.

Dan Fowler picked up a hat-trick while Adam Smith also netted.

They share top spot with Workington Reds Juniors and Unisun Athletic. But the latter team were handed their first defeat of the season by Silloth who moved up to fifth after their 3-2 away win.

Whitehaven Miners Social picked up their opening win of the season when they travelled to Borough and came away with a 4-1 scoreline in their favour.

In the premier division, Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves lie in fourth place after their first win of the new term, in just their second game. Celtic got the better of Cockermouth 2-0.

League leaders Aspatria continued in their winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Netherhall while second placed Wigton Harriers defeated Gosforth 3-1.

There was nothing to choose between the two teams in the last game as Pirelli and Carlisle City Development side drew 2-2.
