Boss Tony Jackson hopes his Workington Comets side can set themselves up for a big weekend with more points on the road at Redcar tonight.

The trip to the north east (7.30pm start) will see Workington looking to spoil Redcar's party on the 90th anniversary of speedway on Teesside.

It is the first of three meetings in four days for Comets as they aim to climb into the SGB Championship top four then close on leaders Peterborough Panthers.

Workington's away record this season is strong, with a four-point win two three-point wins and a loss with a consolation league point out of seven league meetings on the road.

Jackson will be looking for more of the same from his team when they visit the league's basement boys tonight.

He said: "We're going there with a full team and a side of riders who can ride well around there.

"We've had some good results at Redcar in the past so hopefully we can do it again.

"It's a racer's track and one that a lot of people in our team quite enjoy going to.

"The league is so competitive that you've go to try and get some points on the road and we're going there with a positive attitude."

The visit to face the Bears will be followed by Lakeside coming to Derwent Park on Saturday then Redcar travelling to Workington on Sunday and maximum points from those three meetings could send Comets to the top of the table by the end of the weekend.

"If we can win tonight we also go into the weekend with more confidence," Jackson added.

"It's a big weekend for us and if we can get some points from these three in four days it will propel us into the play-offs and put us in a good position for the rest of the season."

Meanwhile, Ty Proctor has been revealed as Comets' representative in the Championship Riders' Individual at Sheffield on September 2.
