Trevor Bayliss admits he cannot wait to get Ben Stokes "up to speed" as the Cumbrian today trains with England for the first time in more than four months.

Stokes, who grew-up in Cockermouth, flew to New Zealand on Wednesday to join up with the England squad ahead of their one-day international and Test series' against New Zealand.

The 26-year-old pleaded not guilty to affray at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and is now set to train with his England team-mates in Hamilton.

"I'm looking forward to getting him here," England head coach Bayliss told Sky Sports .

"It's been a long process and, to be honest, we haven't given it much thought at all other than we are looking forward to getting him back in and around the squad.

"I think he will fit back in pretty easily, he's very well liked within the squad.

"He's a big part of the squad and has been for a few years. We will try to get him up to speed so that he is available for the one-day series.

"At this stage, that will mean extra practise days. That is why we are trying to get him here as early as possible so that he is available as early as possible."

England play New Zealand in a T20 match on Sunday, before a five-match one-day international series against the Kiwis.

That will start at Hamilton's Seddon Park on February 25 and will end at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on March 9.

Then, England will play a two-match Test series against New Zealand, facing them in Tests that will start on March 22 and March 29 at Eden Park and the Hagley Oval respectively.
