Ben Stokes has been named in the International Cricket Council’s One-Day International and Test teams of the years.

Cumbrian Stokes is joined by international team-mate Jimmy Anderson in the Test side for 2017, but is the only Englishman in the ODI team.

The ICC said: “England’s talismanic all-rounder was a match-winner with both bat and ball.”

Head coach Trevor Bayliss, meanwhile, has no doubt the 26-year-old will be welcomed back “with open arms” by the England squad next month.

Stokes has been absent from the international set-up since September but, following his charge for affray after an incident in Bristol, the England and Wales Cricket have said he will link-up with the side for the New Zealand leg of the Twenty20 Tri-Series.

But the date for his court case has been set for February 13 – the same time as a T20 match in New Zealand.
