Goalkeeper Lee Sharp shrugged off his gloves and moved up front for Workington Sunday League side Soul Suite at the weekend – bagging a hat-trick in the process.

Sharp’s days in the nets now look to be over as his prowess as a striker came to the fore, with his goals, plus one more from Ryan Smith, leading to Soul Suite beating Workington Reds Juniors 4-3 on the day.

Reds put up a good fight during the division one encounter with goals coming from Ryan Byrne, Jamie Burns and Cameron Harker ensuring they ran their hosts close.

All the games in the division went to the wire with Salterbeck edging out their hosts Highfield 2-1.

Nathan Brash and Jake Heron both found the back of the net for Salterbeck, with the lone reply for Highfield coming from Harry Braithwaite.

The remaining game at this level also finished 2-1 as Red House just claimed the points from Sun Inn Athletic.

A brace from Gary O’Driscoll proved the difference for Red House with Sun Inn’s reply coming from the penalty spot, with Josh Kenny holding his nerve to put the ball away.

There was only one game in the league’s top flight and that took place at Dearham where Pack Horse were the visitors.

It was a little more clear cut than the other clashes as Pack Horse ran out 3-1 victors, with Jordan Hawthorn, Brandon Renney and Connor Hammell all bagging goals.

Pack Horse did not have it all their way as Dearham did break through the visiting defence with Steven Stoddart getting one back for the hosts.

One Sunday County Cup game also took place this weekend, after being moved forward a week.

Seaton Royal Oak welcomed Waverley and it was the Seaton side who progressed into the next round of the competition, courtesy of a 4-1 scoreline.

It was braces all round for the Seaton side with both Tom Powell and Carl Powell getting two apiece. Antony Zajac got Waverley’s reply.
