Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves crashed out of the Ken Glover Memorial Trophy with a 5-1 defeat at Wigton Harriers.

Celtic started the better of the two and deservedly took the lead after 10 minutes with a shot from Owen Charlton which went in off the post.

Wigton equalised on 21 minutes from a corner given away cheaply then took the lead with a Richard O’Keefe strike from the edge of the box.

A well-struck shot from distance by Jonny Studholme extended their lead and the game was wrapped up by Ryan Nicholson and Tom Hill.

In the only game in the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League Premier Division threw together Aspatria and Cockermouth and it was the visitors who came out on top with a 3-0 away win courtesy of goals from Nick Wood, Dan Burns and Brain Straughton.

The result gives Cockermouth a five-point lead in the table over Wigton, who have three games in hand.

In Division One Crown Newlaithes and Whitehaven Amateurs Reserves enhanced their points tally as Newlaithes entertained Whitehaven Miners and finished on the right end of a 3-1 scoreline.

Bradley Glaister missed a penalty but made amends shortly after the restart by giving Miners the lead.

A wonder strike from Callum Plunket, who added his second a few minutes later, and a finish from Dave Barnes completed the scoring.

Whitehaven Amateurs Reserves returned with a six-goal haul from their game against UniSun thanks to Ben Powell with a brace, Ryan Smith, Kian Goulding and two from Tom Stanaway.
