Wrestling pair Johnny Moss and Josh Terry have taken their partnership from an Egremont gym to WWE.

Following on from his WWE debut in Manchester, Terry travelled to Liverpool for NXT-UK TV tapings at the Olympia, which air on the WWE network, and competed against ‘Wild Boar’ Mike Hitchman.

Moss, now a WWE coach, said: “I was working as a producer on the show with fellow coaches Robbie Brookside and WWE hall-of-famer Shawn Michaels.

“Shawn in particular was impressed with Josh’s energy and enthusiasm. He gave a great account of himself in an energetic display and wowed everyone with his agility and speed.”

Terry said: “It was another fantastic experience working for the WWE. Yet another eye-opener for me and to see how well wrestling is doing in the UK.

“It’s being broadcast all over the world and I got to be part of that for which I am extremely appreciative and humbled.

“Having my coach and mentor Johnny Moss by my side helped me feel like I was 100 per cent ready to smash it and do my utmost to make him and my family proud.

“Johnny has looked out for me since I started training under him back in 2014 and now that he is teaching the next generation of WWE superstars over in Florida, having him mentor me again was amazing.

“To come from a small town in Cumbria to be on a world stage was an experience I won’t forget or take for granted.”

And Moss added: “Going from coaching Josh at my school, in a small industrial unit in Egremont, to working as his coach in the WWE, the largest wrestling company in the world, was surreal.

“I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot more of him as the WWE continues it’s expansion with the NXT-UK brand.

“I’m home now for Christmas and will be helping Josh at the school – we are offering special kids classes and parties over the festive period.”
