Footballing skills were on display on Sunday in the West Cumbria Youth League as the under-8 teams entertained in a festival.

Teams from across the area went head to head to improve their game skills at Lakes College, Lillyhall.

Turning to the rest of the league there was plenty of competitive action, starting with the under-12 red division where Moor Row remain on top of the pile after a 6-1 away win at Seaton Athletic.

Workington Reds’ White team remain hot on their heels in second though as they got the better of Cleator Moor Celtic Greens by four goals to nil. Workington Reds Blacks also picked up points when they recorded a 2-0 win over hosts Whitehaven AFC Yellows.

In the other game in the division Maryport Amateurs beat Workington Reds’ red team 4-2.

In the under-12 blue division, Whitehaven Miners Social are clear leaders and they continued to build on their success with a 3-0 victory at the home of Dearham Rangers while second placed Whitehaven AFC Blues won 6-2 at Grassroad Sharks. There were plenty of goals when Seaton United welcomed Silloth Mini Gulls but the sides could not be separated in a 6-6 scoreline while St Bees won 6-0 at Moor Row Blacks.

In the Under-13 league there was only one game as Cleator Moor Celtic put nine goals into the back of the net at Bransty Rangers, who managed one in reply.

Workington Rangers leads the way at the top of the Under-14 league, with a 9-0 win over St Bees Juniors to remain unbeaten. Second placed Whitehaven Amateurs won 4-1 at Cleator Moor Celtic.

Maryport Athletic also racked up nine goals with hosts Workington Reds Blacks hitting two in reply, while Cockermouth Cougars beat Windscale Juniors 9-1 and Dearham Rangers edged out Workington Reds Whites 4-3 in a tight game.

There were five games at under-16 level as Maryport Amateurs under-15s beat Workington Reds under-15s 9-1, Maryport Athletic beat Cleator Moor Celtic under-15s 6-1 and Whitehaven Miners Social under-15s recorded a 4-0 victory over Windscale under-15s.

Workington Reds Blacks and Bransty Rangers played out a 2-2 draw and Cockermouth Lightning’s lone goal was enough to see them beat Cleator Moor Celtic.

In the under-18 league Moor Row under-17s beat Cleator Moor Celtic 6-1 while Maryport Amateurs and Whitehaven AFC drew 2-2.
