Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League leaders Station Road B were held to a 3-3 home draw against Workington Golf Club this week as the 2018/19 campaign reached round 11.

Stephen Jackson won the first for the Golf Club but with Mark Tunstall, Peter O’Hagan and Alan McLeod proving victorious in the next three Station B were on the verge of a match win at 3-1.

Nevertheless the Golf Club dug in and with Mark Cowen and Phil Sorfleet taking the last two the top tier third placed side went away the happier.

Division one second placed side, Workington Conservative Club faced division two's Maryport Social A and in another stalemate the fixture ended 3-3. Cons had victories from Dave Holland, Julian Plaza and Mike Park and the home side saw wins for Craig Stuart, Ryan Ismay and Paul Lister. Maryport Social A stay in second place in division two.

Maryport Social B produced their best performance of the season as the division two side defeated top tier's Flimby Social 4-2 away from home. Flimby captain Geoff Banton gave his team the perfect start by winning the first but with Steven Armstrong, Andrew Sharp (33 break) and Andrew Scott winning the next three Maryport B were on top.

A victory that included a break of 40 by Paul Vickers pulled one back for Flimby however Ben Irving in fine form won the match. Flimby remain in fourth place.

Workington’s Veterans Club produced the biggest winning margin of the week as they defeated division two’s Workington Legion 5-1 at home. A first frame victory for Iain Torley gave the Legion some early belief however this soon dwindled as Mike Dawson, Kevin Basnett (33 break), Craig Davies, Mark Tatton and Paul Smith all won for the division one side to lift them into joint fourth with Flimby.

Station Road A are well and truly establishing themselves as division two favourites and with another win, this time a 4-2 victory against the United Club, the league's top team increased their lead to three points.

Tom Thompson and Darren Lawson put Station A 2-0 up but with United victories for Clive Lister and Andrew Mitchelhill the match stood at 2-2. Mike Walker and Geoff Smith won with ease to see Station A power to victory.
