Windscale found it tough going against the unbeaten West Cumbria Youth League Under-14 division leaders Workington Rangers at the weekend.

Rangers, who are clear at the top, hit the back of the net nine times without reply to keep their own record intact.

The only other game at this level saw Whitehaven AFC Juniors win 10-1 at the home of Maryport Athletic.

In the Under-12 blue division, another strong display of team work by Whitehaven Blues keeps them on an unbeaten run this season. This time they defeated Moor Row Blacks 3-0, building on wins in recent weeks against Silloth Mini Gills and St Bees Juniors.

Seaton United were victorious when they beat St Bees 5-0 and the last game saw Dearham Rangers put seven into the net against Silloth Mini Gulls who replied with three of their own.

Turning to the under-12 red division, Whitehaven AFC Yellows edged a tight encounter with Moor Row Reds 2-1 while Workington Reds’ Reds beat Seaton Athletic 2-0 and Workington Reds’ Blacks won 7-1 at Maryport Amateurs.

Cleator Moor Celtic are still unbeaten at the top of the Under-13 league, after disposing of Seaton Athletic 4-0 away from home.

Their nearest rivals Seaton United kept up the pressure though as they beat St Bees Juniors 6-0 to stay on their coattails. And Windscale Juniors are still up there in third after a 5-1 win against Workington Wolves.

Cockermouth United were clear 7-0 victors over Bransty Rangers while Whitehaven AFC Blues were convincing as they overpowered Senhouse Juniors 9-2.

The final game in the division saw Workington Reds Juniors come out on top after they had travelled to Maryport Amateurs to record a 4-0 win.

At Under-16 level there was only one league game as the League Cup took precedence for the weekend.

The league clash saw Cleator Moor Celtic under-15s and Whitehaven Miners Social Under-15s play out a tense encounter that ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

In the League Cup Bransty Rangers just edged out Whitehaven AFC under-15s by a lone goal in a tight clash but it looked an easier day for Cockermouth under-15 Panthers who moved on with a 9-1 victory over Workington Reds Juniors under-15s.

Maryport Athletic and Cockermouth Lightning battled it out before Athletic took the tie 3-1 while Seaton Juniors under-15s got the better of their Windscale under-15 counterparts in a 3-0 scoreline.

Cleator Moor Celtic also progressed in the competition, courtesy of a 4-1 win at the home of Whitehaven AFC.

There was also one game in the under-18 league where Moor Row Juniors under-17s tasted success at Seaton Under-18s, beating them 8-0.

In the under-14 girls league, there was a tight match between Workington Diamonds and Cockermouth Girls, with the latter just taking the points in a close 2-1 win.
