RYAN Duffy is set to be sidelined for around two months if the worst is confirmed about the prop’s knee injury.

Duffy, who was due to undergo a scan last week, missed Barrow Raiders’ 56-0 defeat at York City Knights on Sunday after suffering the injury in the previous week’s narrow loss at home to Sheffield Eagles.

All signs are pointing to a medial ligament in his left knee at present and Crarey is braced to be without the impact forward for an extended spell.

“We don’t know whether it’s a medial ligament,” said Crarey.

“That’s the signs at the moment, so we’re looking at eight to 10 weeks with him if that’s the case.

“That’s getting him back to some sort of playing state and if we get an operation for him as well.”

There is some good news on the injury front though, with Glenn Riley expected to be available again for this Sunday’s Betfred Championship clash at home to Dewsbury Rams.

The former Whitehaven forward impressed in the Raiders’ pre-season games, but damaged a hip flexor in training during the build-up to the season-opener away to Batley Bulldogs.

And Crarey is looking forward to welcoming Riley back.

“Hopefully, Glenn might be back this week and give us a bit of grunt up front,” said Crarey.

“He was playing pretty well until he got injured and we’ll have to use everybody.”
