Jamie Doran is taking nothing for granted as Workington Town prepare to host Siddal in the Challenge Cup third round tomorrow.

The vice-captain wants his side to progress when they welcome the West Yorkshire side to Derwent Park (3pm ko) and is under no illusions that they will be travelling up to West Cumbria hoping to produce a cup shock so cannot be taken lightly.

"Some might say it's only Siddal but we know how often these teams surprise sides from a higher level," Doran said.

"We're not going into this game taking Siddal lightly.

"They've always been a top team and they're not going to be a weak side.

"They'll have fast backs, big middles and they're in the same boat as us working five days a week so it's not like we have a huge advantage like a full-time side."

Doran said he expects head coach Leon Pryce to name a strong side for the clash as he eyes progress, with the potential for a big draw in the latter stages of the competition as good a reason as any to aim for a cup run.

"A lot of people think it's a bit harsh having more games but I love the Challenge Cup," he said.

"It's a great competition, especially for amateur sides.

"If you can get through this round, then the next one, the Super League teams come in and that's something to aim for."

But even if Pryce shakes things up and gives fringe players a run out, Doran does not believe there would be much of a drop off in standards and is confident they would have enough.

He added: "We've got a lot of quality players missing out every week.

"If Leon does decide to change things up a bit we're going to have good lads coming into the team like Scott Rooke who will fit right in."
