Workington Town will look for another explosive performance this weekend against Newcastle Thunder as they look to emulate their unbreachable defence against Siddal.

Siddal failed to score against Town in last weekend’s Coral Challenge Cup clash, something that pleased coach Leon Pryce.

And his assistant, Craig McDowell, said they would love to get another zero tomorrow (3pm kick-off) as they aim to turn Derwent Park a fortress this season.

“Our defence is really good and we got a zero last week and that is what we will be looking for again against Newcastle,” said McDowell.

“We are pretty confident in our defence but we have been a bit lacklustre in attack recently and we will have to sort that.

“We had a bit of a disruption with the snow but we will be ready for tomorrow’s game and, hopefully, the fans will come down in numbers and we can set our stall out for the season and put our plans into action.”

Town do have a few faces back, which is a boost to the coaching staff, after only being able to name 16 on the teamsheet against Siddal.

But Fuifui Moimoi is back in contention after serving the last match of his suspension and Gordon Maudling is back after missing last weekend due to family commitments. Added to that, Andrew Dawson returns from injury with Caine Barnes and Tom Curwen also returning to full fitness.
