Rangy power-puncher 'Sugar' Shane Roe will travel to Newcastle later this month for his biggest fight to-date.
Roe is undefeated, fighting out of Just Grind MMA and Fitness Centre in Workington.
He moved to 2-0 at the gym's last show; Clash of the Titans 23 with a first round stoppage of Has Ali from Derby.
And he will look to stay in the win column when he competes on a fight card in Newcastle; Informal 3 Championships by Bang Bang Promotions.
Roe will face Dylan Thompson in his first fight off the home patch on May 25. Thompson fights out of the Manor Gym, training ground of two bareknuckle world champions, Michael Terrill and Billy Hawthorn.
And chief boxing coach, Dave Straughton is getting him ready.
Coach Straughton said: "Shane has a future in the sport, if he's this good at 16, with more experience he's going to be tough to beat."
Roe is in the right place for progression, training with the other prospects at Just Grind in St. John's Court.
Assistant coach Alex Nicholson, cruiserweight James Dixon and Dylan Bradburn, all have a bright future ahead of them. Gary Taylor who headlined their last show has aspirations of making it in the pro ranks.
In the MMA world, Just Grind's roster includes 'Fearsome' Dan Grierson and Jordan 'The Hitman' Holmes. The pair regularly compete in high-level UK MMA shows and are coaching the next generation.
Just Grind's flagship show, Clash of the Titans will return in the Summer.
