Boxing prospect Shane Roe was victorious in the north-east this past weekend, stopping a game opponent in the 3rd round with brutal bodyshots.

The Workington teen has built-up quite the fan following in just three semi-pro bouts, with an exciting style and a flair for promoting his fights.

He put his physicality to good use in the bout, landing powerful shots inside the pocket. One of his best tools is use his long levers to land punches when his opponent thinks he is out of range.

Thompson bravely pushed forward with flurries in the first round but it soon became clear that Roe was walking him down.

Roe got to Thompson in the third round, backing him up into the corner and landing two thunderous bodyshots, one on each side, followed by a clubbing right hand upstairs for good measure.

His mentor and boxing coach of Just Grind MMA and Fitness Centre, Dave Straughton said: "He's the hardest puncher I have ever seen at the weight."

He faced a durable opponent in Dylan Thompson of the Manor Gym. Thompson was game and took some big shots from a rangy power puncher, no doubt spurred-on by his hometown crowd.

Thompson has high-quality schooling, as the Newcastle club is home to two bareknuckle world champions.

Roe vs Thompson took place on the May 25 Informal Championships 3 card from Billy Hawthorn's Bang! Bang! Promotions.

Hawthorn is a bareknuckle world champion fighting out of the Manor gym along with teammate Michael Terrill.

It makes two impressive wins in a row for Roe, in his last bout he picked-up a first round stoppage over Has Ali of Derby; that bout took place on the March 30 Clash of the Titans bill.
